Pre-wedding sessions

Pre-wedding sessions are the thing we get the most questions about. So, what’s the point of a pre-wedding session and why do we recommend you get one?

We think it is unbelievably important. It’s an opportunity for you to get to know us and for us to learn all about how to photograph you in a relaxed and enjoyable way.

Pre-wedding sessions are a stress busting activity too. For people who are not familiar with having their portraits taken, or experience anxiety about a portrait session, doing a portrait session before the wedding can help relieve that anxiety and familiarise yourselves with the process. It’s a relaxed and easy going time and it makes the wedding day so much more enjoyable. It can make the wedding day portraits take way less time too. That means you can get back to spending time with your friends and family.

Pre-wedding sessions, more than anything, provide an opportunity to get to know each other. They usually last between 1 and 2 hours and during that time we learn to personalise our approach to taking portraits of you both.

As most people aren’t used to be being in front of a lens it’s our job as photographers to ensure you’ll by comfortable and happy on your big day. The pre-wedding session helps us know how to create beautiful images of you both and ensure its enjoyable on the wedding day. It’s also another opportunity for us to talk about your wedding plans and make preparations together. What we learn together during that session guarantees that the portraits on your wedding day are special, effortless and fun.

Of course, you will also get some excellent couple portraits from it in a location you love (it doesn’t have to be your wedding venue). It could also be an option to bring a dog (or other pet) that may not be at your wedding to get some lovely photos of them.
